I do not know if this is the correct forum, but here are my questions.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 running XP Pro with a 250 GB hard drive. I want to replace the hard drive with a 500 GB unit. (I know how to physically replace the hard drive). I have two(2) questions:

1. Do I need to do anything special for XP to see & utilize the entire 500 GB's? And if so, what?

2. I want to transfer everything (system, data files, settings, programs, executables etc.) from the old 250 to the new 500. What do I need to do?

There shouldn't be any issues, so long as it is XP SP2 (or better). For the second issue, I'd slave off the HDD (move the jumper from CS, or Master to slave) then copy over whatever files you intend to keep. As for programs, you would have to re-install them on the new HDD. (or just get Bart PE, and create an image)
