I'm currently assembling my first PC ever (lots of fun!) but have run into an issue I'd like some help with.

So far, every manual I've read states that the "shapes" on all connections to the motherboard must match.

The "shapes" on the 2x4 12V connector from the PSU (Corsair 750TX), however, don't match those found on the CPU power connector on the motherboard.

Here's what it looks like:

S = Square shape

H = Hexagonal shape

P55M-UD4

S H H S
H S S H

Corsair 750TX

H H H S
H H S H

Despite the difference, I went ahead and tried to gently insert the PSU's connector to the mobo and it went in just fine though I'm reluctant to go ahead and do the first boot without first knowing if it's okay.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I did plug the same together. I did not notice this "hex" issue, but I fancy that if the female is a square, you can plug the "male" from corsair if it's hex ... At least it did the job for me :)
