No, DDR2 memory WILL NOT work in a DDR3 motherboard, and vice versa. The keypoints are different from each one so are also physically incompatible with one another.

Right now, DDR2 and DDR3 memory are more or less the same price, so it shouldn't be much of a problem to get DDR3 now.
 
No problem, just keep in mind how stupid people are.
If the parts are even remotely similar in size, some idiot will force them together somehow.
I have even seen a few instances of people sawing at their addin cards to get them to fit in a different slot type :pfff:
