I'm from Malaysia and building up a new PC for architectural usage (modeling and rendering) at the moment I'm in dilemma on choosing the right processor to be used with the graphic....should it be AM3 or C2Quad...the other thing is...i was mentioned that for more than 6GB ram we will need 64 bit OS....can i use 32 bit softwares (3d max/ sketchup etc) on 64 bit system? Thanks all

I would go for an i7 build which would allow you to use triple channel ddr3 as well. Yes, a x86 OS only recognizes ~3.5GB RAM. Yes, that software should work on your x64 system...

You need a 64 bit os to use more than 4GB of RAM not 6 just to clarify. You can run 32 bit programs on a 64 bit operating system and shouldnt have any issues, you just need to make sure you get 64 bit drivers as 32 bit drivers wont work.

Ok....i've done some studies over the forum.....now i decided to built my system with these....

Core i7 920
ASUS PT6 MOBO
2X CORSAIR 133 3Gb
WD 500GB ST32
CM EXTREME POWER 650W

How does that sound? The other thing is that i wonder what can i do to reduce the rendering time...i am using 3dstudio and other architecture CAD software....
