1). whats the difefrence between a Phenom II on an AM2+ socket and a Phenom II on an AM3 socket?
2.) any good AM2+/AM3 crossfirex boards with 16x and 8x lanes that have DDR2 slots??

Am2+ is ddr2; Am3 is ddr3. I would go with the asus M3N-HT deluxe new (only $109.99 after $30 rebate at It has 3 pci-e slots for sli, but using two will get you 16x speed. The open box version is the same price without rebate, but you get no accessories.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

1- The Phenom II AM2+ is socket AM2+, so, the mobo must be AM2+ and the AM2+ mobo only support DDR2.

2- Someday, I found a mobo AM3 with DDR3 and DDR2 slots, but wasn't from a good manufacturer.
