If you read my other post you know I use 2K as my main OS but have 98 as I need it for a couple of things...well really just one.

Is there any way to just forgo the whole dual boot scenario, run Win2k only and have like an emulator or something for the one Win98 program I need?

In other words, with Service Pack Two installed, you can create a shortcut to the program, and choose a compatibility mode. You'll just always need to use the shortcut to launch the program.

Note: There is also a Win98 Compatibility Mode, in case you were wondering.

I would also suggest that you download and install the latest compatibility updates for your OS from Windows Update.

What program is it that you wish to run?

Thanks a bunch, I feel kinda dumb cuz the program I need (want) to run is a frikkin gambling game that I am addicted to...lol.

I actually need to install the program under 2K and that seems to be a problem but I will look that KB article over for more info.

btw, your rig is dope, wish I had that kinda cash...I do have the same sound card, DVD, mouse and keyboard though.....what have you gotten that remote to do? I can get to open other programs but navigating through anything but the built in audio program is a bitch. I gotz my cordless keyboard though so no biggie.

We all have our addictions! LOL!

I don't even use the remote ... I don't care for it. I'd rather free up the system resources, and just open the applications manually. I really got the breakout box so I could have front panel midi connections for my guitars and keyboards.

Thanks for the compliment on the rig. It runs great!

yeah, my remote gathers dust as well.

That Compatibility Mode stuff worked great, pretty simple too.

Had to enable it by running
regsvr32 C:\apppatch\slayerui.dll

Then the CD still would not install so I created a shortcut to the setup.exe file and specified Compatibility Mode (Win95) in the shortcut properties and ran setup through the shortcut..bam, I am playing poker and craps again.

Note: Had to specify Compatibility Mode in the shortcut to the game once it was installed as well but that is like you had said, my problem was getting that damn game installed.

Thanks again
