My 2002 gateway w/intel cannot on somedays find the harddrive

Some days I can turn computer on and all is fine someday, just the gateway logo is up and says does not recognize the hard drive.has serv pk 3 until pent 4cpu do I need another hard drive or motherboard or what help you can send answer to rmacreel062409@gmail.com if u need further info let me know thanks. possible hard drive problem, double click on "my computer" then right click on your drive then under "tools" do the check volume for errors option. also right click on my computers then left click on "manage" double click on system tools then event viewer then application and look for disk errors
