i just built a new pc. assembled the parts my self. but its not powering on. i connected all the wires right but its not powering on. what could be the problem?
Standoffs prevent the mobo from coming into contact with your case. The various soldering points on the mobo will act as ground points, effectively shorting the board out.... so um... put those in... and pray.

You absolutely NEED standoffs. If you didn't put them in, the best case scenario is that you put them in and everything works. Worst case is that you fried your motherboard by not following directions. There aren't very many components inside your computer that are just there for decoration. Every component is important and you can't expect the computer to work if you don't install every component.
When it comes to expensive components instruction manuals arent just there as extra padding. Take everything out and redo it from the start with standoffs and following the instructions this time.
You did swap out the case I/O panel for the one that came with the motherboard right? Some cases come with a few screwed in put you need unscrew those and screw in the ones where your motherboard needs it.

disassemble EVERYTHING, then follow the instructions for each part starting with the case, then the motherboard, then each component as you install them. You need a stand off at every screw hole in the motherboard otherwise your motherboard is not grounded and the circuit is not complete. If you put two of them on top of each other it wont fit, if you follow the instructions it is easy and you wont have a problem.

Is there a raised spot under every hole in the motherboard? What case do you have? Did you read the case and motherboard owners manuals?
yes. there is a raised spot in every hole. the raised spots are all aligned with the back I/O panel and putting standoffs will make the board too high.
Your link for the case brings up 3 pages of cases. That doesn't narrow it down much.
What CPU do you have? Posting your complete system specs will help a lot. That X48 board is actually fairly old. If you have a pretty new model CPU the chances are pretty good that the motherboard BIOS needs to be updated to support the CPU.

yes, but pc is not starting up. it doesn't even make a sound when i powered it on.
Okay i just looked at the gigabyte manual, its a POS, it doesnt even show where the standoff holes are and has fairly useless installation instructions. Just make sure each thing on the motherboard that looks like a screw hole is connected to one of the stands in your case.
i think the power supply is broken. i did everything and its still not turning on. not even making a sound or not smelling like burnt electronic. nothing.
1 check to see if the PSU is turned on ( flip the switch in the back of it)
2 make sure both power cables are in the mobo
3 check the power botton on the case make sure its not broken or on the mobo upside down
4 still no luck ? take the PSU out and test it outside the case ( try and hook up a fan to it )
5 Is it pluged into the wall ? lol
