I want to connect a Seagate Momentous 500G laptop drive to my PC. The PC is IDE only. Can someone tell me what hardware I will need?

The Seagate is a SATA drive - I forgot to mention that.

Item# 200599533663 on e-bay. Tiger direct and Newegg also has these.This what I used.They are cheaper on E-bay. You may have to set the hard drive up as a master so it will show in My Computer. You can use the adapter for IDE or SATA. Good luck

On the other hand, the speed of that drive will be limited by the IDE interface. Do you have PCI Express slots? Would you be willing to invest in a controller card?

Or are you only concerned with capacity, not speed?

Thank you, but I forgot that a Sata drive you do not have to setup as a master. Only the IDE drives you will have to set up
