I want to upgrade the processor to a Core 2 Duo. It says that the motherboard for this computer has a LGA775 socket but want to know if the motherboard will be able to run this processor. Thanks for your Help. Any more info Please don't hesitate to ask.

Computer Configuration is:
Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHZ
2 GB Memory
Windows XP
256 MB NVIDIA Quadro FX Graphics Card
450 Watt power supply

No. Your old motherboard has a 915 chipset; won't work with any core2 duo cpus. You'll need a different board. I have used the "boston" hp board made by msi. It will run your cpu but only has 2 ram slots. It was $59 on ebay last time I checked. If you don't feel comfortable changing out a motherboard, wait and get another new system and return or sell the cpu on craigslist.

What do you guys think about the AMD Athlon II X3 425 & Biostar MCP6P M2+ Combo that Frys Electronics is selling for $59. Is that a great deal or is there a better deal. As I have been wanting to upgrade the processor.
