Phenom X6 to X4?

With my Formula V motherboards overclock software Turbo V, I am able to turn off my last 2 cores and turn my 1100T to a quad core. will i get better temps and be able to get a better overclock with this? I mostly use my computer for gaming and i dont need the extra cores.

Just wondering if this will help at all or if it will break anything?

I would give it a try. With fewer cores, you will generate less heat, and possibly get a higher OC.
I did this with a 2600K, turning off hyperthreading . In retrospect, I should have saved the $100, but as an early adopter, I knew less then

Yes, if you shutdown those 2 extra (unused) cores you will be able to pump more power through the chip without causing it to generate as much heat.

As you use it for gaming, it is not worth it to have the extra cores, since they are unused anyways.
