help! i have lost my sound driver (windows xp) and there's no sound or icon present.i must have deleted something by accident... can anyone, please, help?

Look in the sound properties under control panel. What does it say?
Also look in device manager and see what it says for a sound card.
You may have to reinstall the driver for it.
