Windows Indexing Service

Is it better to turn on or off the Windows Indexing Service using XP SP3? What are the benefits/disadvantages in either case? Cheers!

Appreciate the effort, Toxxel. But I've actually done a bit of research on this subject & have read that page you sited. Was hoping someone here @ THW would be able to cut through all the tech aspects & just give me the factual lowdown if I should/shouldn't keep the Indexing Service on. Thanks anyways.
