Empty CD ROM runs when visit websites

When I visit certain websites, like this one..., my empty CD ROM drive starts running. Sometimes like crazy. Can a website access my cd rom drive? Is there another reason why this should/would happen?

does your cd rom drive ever act up on its own at any other times? has the device always done this or is it recent? it sounds like some sort of software or driver problem. a few quick diagnostic questions such as the ones i suggested can often determine the best way to fix it.

the more information you give us on what you've tested and tried will help.

i can verify that this website doesn't try to look for your cd rom drive. i know websites can pick system information off your hard drive and malicious ones might be able to do more, but i dont think this is your issue.
