SATA controllers don't work together

Hi everyone,

I have an old Abit NF7-S (v2.0) motherboard that I've been using for some six years now. For several years, I've been using a Promise SATA150 TX2Plus controller card for both an additional PATA port and two SATA ports; this has been working fine with no problems.

Recently I got my hands on some new SATA drives and I'd like to replace my aging IDE drives, so I bought a Bytecc SATA controller card running the Sil3512 SATA chip. When both PCI cards are installed, strange things start happening:

1) Any SATA drive connected to either of the PCI cards does not get detected (or gets detected incorrectly).
2) If there is any SATA drive connected to the on-motherboard SATA ports (driven by the onboard Sil3112A), the Sil3112A BIOS hangs on boot (not the motherboard BIOS, the SATA controller BIOS).

Is there any way to get these cards to work with each other?

Regards,
-Scott
