Hi,
I'm not sure what it is or how to stop it.
But everytime I boot my PC it discovers new hardware, my
printer a hp deskjet 870cxi.
I go throught the process of adding the driver that
windows finds, I have even downloaded new drivers from hp.
But every time it boots it says it finds it again, it
doesn't seem to matter if I let it add the printer or not.
I have tried removing the printer and driver,I even
scanned my registry to delete the ref to the printer, an
next it boots it finds it again, installs ok but same
thing again, next time I boot.
It starts all over again.

CAN ANYONE HELP ?
PLEASE

Noel

Noel, if that's a USB device rt click on MyComputer>select
Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>USB
Controllers. Click on each one and select Uninstall. First disconnect
all your USB devices. Then restart
and let XP reinstall the controllers. In Control Panel>remove any
Printer Software. Check here

It's important for WinXP to load without seeing the printer or any HP
software. So if parallel connection
disconnect also. For your specific Printer XP should already have the
drivers. Don't install any driver from
HP. Just shutdown reconnect the Printer and let XP do the rest. I had a
HP deskjet 695 and XP installed
it without any difficulty.
