Just a basic question:

If I max out the GPU clock settings (900MHz) and Memory clock settings (1350MHz) in the Catalytic Control Center, is this safe if temps are under control (80c)?

Edit: I guess one more question also; why does it say 400MHz for GPU freq at the bottom of the screen? doesn't change at all with the changes in clock settings.

Solution
It's dangerous 80C ran everyday, for safely use afterburner + raise voltage + increase sped fan at 80- 90 maybe :D . Back to stock it will better !
I think you see 400mhz in CPU-Z , ignore it, install latest GPU-Z you will see all setting GPU .

Thats correct also could only be booting with the higher frequency-settings only when it loads the catalyst control center in windows, through bios post it is probably siting at stock frequencies. Also 80C everyday will cause some wear and tear on your card.

My 6950 is blank in the CPU-Z Video tab.

80C is hot, im running 1000mhz core and 1500mhz without water cooling, you need to change the automatic fan under MSi after burner so the card doesn't run into problems (artifacts)

My card runs 1hour without artifacts on furmark as long it is under 80C, once it hits 80C+ without my controlled auto fan control, it crashes.

Also make sure once you overclock it, don't make your computer sleep, instead, turn it off. Because once you resume your windows, the graphics will run at default voltage and might crash your card instantly unless you overclocked it under default voltages.

if you ever want to overclock higher, or have less temps, 6950's stock thermal paste with something high grade like IC Diamond or Antec Formula 7

I noticed -5C with it on.

Ahh yeah the settings... I thought that I had a super card maxing out with no artifacts and at 80'C

I will hit 'Apply' this time and see what happens :na:

Thanks for the tip on sleep mode.

Is 80'C while running FurMark acceptable?
