Community:
I have an XPS 400 that I purchased 2006. The original DVD burner unit has died. I need to replace it with a newer unit.
In my Cyber searches I seem to find most are now sold with SATA interfaces and it appears that the original one in my 400/9150 computer was for a IDE interface. My question is can I use a SATA interface DVD burner in my computer? I do have two open Sata connector on my MOBO for such expansion capabilities.
Or will I need to buy a 4-pin molex to SATA connector converter to make it work with the MOBO?. Or will I be able to connect it directly into the SATA connectors on the motherboard? I currently am running the latest BIOS A07 which should be ok.
This is my current config:
