I would like to upgrade my Gateway cx210x's CPU, which currently has:

Intel Core Duo T2050 (Yonah 1.60ghz)
Socket 479 mPGA
i945PM chipset

Can anyone tell me whether or not I have any options as far as upgrading this to a newer processor? I've been reading conflicting things about the ability to do this. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

No, you really don't have many options, I would start with a new build.

I recommend you consider building a new system , yours is a bit old.
but if you don't really need higher performance right now, wait a little more the prices are dropping specially AMD's
