Hey guys I am currently overclocking my x4 955, and am currently @ 1.47 vcore and 3.8ghz. With prime 95 (full load) I get 55 degrees Celsius max temp. I would like to get 4ghz but I'm not sure what to do next. I am using a hyper 212 + (with arctic mx-2 thermal paste).

If you guys could help me reach the magical 4ghz that would be awesome, but it does seem like 3.8ghz is as far as my processor will go. It's also a c3 stepping if that helps.

EDIT: Scratch that, I just crashed while stress testing, I've had to bump the voltage too 1.48v. Hopefully that will be stable.
Also it seems people are managing to get quite high temps with hyper 212 plus http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/499526-official-phenom-ii-x4-9x5-oc.html . Should I try changing settings other than the voltage and the multiplier?

Go back to your last stable overclock and start by raising the base clock from 200mhz to lets say 205 and test again. If stable go to 210mhz and keep going until you pin point where your limits are.

well my last stable voltage and settings were 1.4v 200*18= 3.6ghz. I just tried upping the multiplier to 18.5 to get 3.7ghz and that crashed. If it is anything like when I tried 3.8ghz increasing vcore voltage won't help, because I upped the voltage all the way to 1.48v @ 3.8ghz and it still refused to be stable.

I've tried upping the fsb by 5 just to see if I could reach 3.7ghz that way but it just BSODED out, so i'm not sure what to do next... Could anyone help?

EDIT: Don't bother guys, my friend convinced me to stick with 3.6ghz due to the small performance gain of aiming for 4ghz, but with much higher temps. I'd rather be safe than sorry :p
