I recently bought a used eMac G4
(ser.#YM421GNFQJ8) with the 1.25
ghz chip and expandable RAM to 2GB.
I would like to use it to power a
small digital sound board for recording music practice sessions.
I have heard a few horror stories about eMacs having serious problems (e.g., bad capacitors, CRT cable shield issues), but as of yet I have not noticed anything
strange in the eMac's operation.
Is there anyone out there in the
geeky world of Macs who might know whether, by some stroke of dumb luck, my particular machine
is one of the "good" eMacs?

That statement "good eMac" is the biggest oxymoron I have ever read in my life.
However, you are in the wrong place. This forum is not exactly a Mac lovers hangout.
emac less common than imac or powermacs.
but capacitor trouble was early g5 IIRC. not g4 (though apple likely made g4 based emac and imac well into g5 powermac years).if yours is alive, it doesn't hav bad caps :-)

I s'poze I ducked into the wrawng kuntry klub!
Just call me a musician and a photographer. A MAC is a tool,
y'know, like a big ugly screwdriver.
