9800 GTX Overheating

Last year I built a computer using a 9800 GTX, and up until a couple of days ago, I havent had any problems.
However, recently when playing games, my GPU temperature skyrockets, usually to around 80C. I never had this problem before and nothing seemed to have changed. Anyone know why? I suspect my power supply (which is a cheap raidmax which came with my case, only has 1 12v rail)

EVGA 9800 GTX
500W PSU
500GB HDD
E8400
Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R
4GB DDR2 RAM
Vista 32 bit

Thanks

I took the gpu out and cleaned it best i could, doesnt seem to have made a difference. I had gone on vacation before this problem started and when I returned it started, but cleaning didnt seem to have helped

Clean it go out to frys or something buy some compressed air shoot it into and all around the gpu and case. Also consider adding a spot cooler to move air from under the gpu out of the case, most times that auto lowers load temps by 5-10c for most people just adding a pci slot fan.

Izzycraft has a good idea with a PCI slot fan. It helps to promote air flow in and then out of the case. Also, some cases are very sensitive to ambient temperature. In the summertime in my den, sometimes I can aim a fan at the outside of my case and it lowers temps 5-10c.

If your sure its CLEAN.
Sure that you have case airflow ( and i mean GOOD )

Its not supposed to overheat of those 2 condition are ok. If its .. theres is really something bad.

My room is DAMN hot these day and right now my GPU with 40% fan show 44c core and 35c PCB. AVG cpu temp 34c. room nearly 30c ...
