Boot from flash drive

Can anyone tell me if i could boot from flash drive on a aspire one D255.Thanks

the acer aod 255 does have this capability in bios. hit f2 during bootup, then look at boot options menu. I have same netbook so I know it has the boot options I mentioned above, but I'm not certain about how to install the os onto the flash drive, nor do i know which linux distro is the best choice.
