Hey folks - newbie here (kinda - have blindly built my last 3 ATX boxes).

How do you accurately size the PSU?

Here's my configuration ...

Case: Antec P180 w/ 3 Antec 120mm fans & 1 Antec cyclone blower for the video card
MB: MSI K9N w/ Athlon 64 X2 5200
Video Card: VisionTek Radeon HD 4650
HD: 3 Western Digital 80Gb, 1 WD 640Gb, 2 Seagate 300Gb - all SATA (the 80Gb are for boot drives for XP, Vista & 7)
DVD-R: 1 Sony
PSU: 450W

I was looking for power requirements for the various pieces. The only specs that I could find are for the WD HDs. Estimating a peak of 44W at idle.

Thanks for your "push in the right direction".

Cheers,

SeamusG

There are several PSU calculators, e.g., http://www.antec.outervision.com/
