Trying to connect a landline and a wireless to same router

PC is land line and running windows XP... laptop is wireless and running windows 7... both connect to a wireless router p.c via usb port but the pc will not connect to internet , laptop works fine .. phone line (DSL) to modem , USB from modem to router(linskys) , USB from router to PC

What is this USB thing you speak of?

Are you trying to connect the modem to the PC via a usb cable?

i have connected the pc to the router using a cable yes it may not be called a usb cable , it looks like the phone cable just bigger ( ethernet cable perhaps)

Yep cool. That's what you need.

Is this windows xp computer a custom build. It may not have its ethernet driver.
