If your gaming or more of casual use I agree with the Phenom II X3 720. If your one of the few who renders on a regular basis or does other tasks that can make use of 4 cores, than the Athlon II X4 620 may be your best upgrade option.

I'd agree that at the moment, the Phenom II X3 720 would be the best choice. I'd also look at the $99 Athlon II X4 620 since it is a quad-core chip and sometimes noticeably outruns the triple-core X3 720 in heavily-threaded games. I'd probably also look at eventually replacing that HD 4670 since you could get a pretty good boost in gaming performance by moving up to an HD 5750/5770 when they come down in price in a couple of months.

If you're a gamer get one that has l3 cache on it. If all you have is $100, get the 720. If you want a quad core pick up an 810 if you can swing it.

It should be. For some reason the Athlon II X4 620 isn't listed there, but the almost-identical 605e adn 600e are, as are a bunch of Phenom II CPUs.

yea im looking at the support list. Does the F1, F2, F3 mean i have to update my BIOS in order for the mobo to recognize the cpu?

It's not what you are looking for, but consider a second monitor.

the Athlon II X4 620 is not supported for my rev 1.1... not until rev 3
that sucks.
