Hey all. I have been having some issues with both of the CD/DVD drives included with my 630i.

A few days ago I bought the GOTY edition of Fallout 3.

I went to install it and it didnt auto-load like normal. So I went and tried to manually start it through My Computer and niether drive was listed or even visable.

I googled a fix and it worked for that issue.

Now when I try installing the second disk of content the system will do nothing and then I ctrl-alt-delete to cancel the operation and it cancels but then my whole desktop disapears, the background is still there but all the icons are gone.

Troubling, I have had several issues with this machine since I got it in July 08, wish I would have known.

Ah well to late now. Any ideas?

Dell XPS 630i
Windows XP SP 3
4gb 667 ram
E8400 Duo core 3.0 ghz.
EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 896mb.

Any other info you need lemme know.

Also would like to add, since I cant find the edit feature,

In my device manager, hardware section there are 3 ?! in a section labled "other devices"

They are :

Audio device on high definition audio bus
other PCI bridge device
SM bus controller

I am having no issues with audio, this is actually a fresh formated OS.

Could these things be causing my issues?
