DDR2 to DDR3

Hello everyone, had someone tell me the other day that DDR2 memory will work just fine in the new DDR3 based boards. I'm basically looking to cut about 200 dollars or so off the cost of a new rig.

Putting together a new system and am looking at getting http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128416.

However, I already have 8 gigs of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122 . I'm kind of a noob to this whole building my own thing, so some confirmation would be much appreciated.

DDR2 and DDR3 are not compatible.

Sorry for you, but they wont fit, you need to spend a good 150$ more on your build !
