I have a hp pc and i bought a e8400 and everything i read tells me to upgrade my bios.Model # is a6319fh chipset g33.If i do this will i lose anything?What can go wrong?Do i even have to upgrade my bios?Sorry for all the questions but i cant just go out and get a new pc if it messes up.I know im gonna have to upgrade the drivers also should i do this 1st?Any help would be more than welcomed. :sol:

The only thing you might loose by upgrading the BIOS are the BIOS settings themselves, everything else should be intact.

As for what can go wrong: BIOS flash fail. If something goes really wrong during the flash, your MB can become unusable. However, this mostly never happened, I performed a fair share of flashes (20-30) and none of them ever failed on me (except a firmware flash of a probably already defective NIC that I was trying to salvage).
