the reviews I see of the gtx 260 216core on review websites, including this one
say that the gtx 260 will get decent frames on crysis with a 1600x1050 (my monitors native resolution) though I get between 20-25 fps on high settings with that resolution and no AA or v sync and I get between 15-20 when in huge battles such as the harbor assault and the fight with the alien walker on the carrier
i have all the latest drivers and patches installed so I don't really get it
what CPU do you have? RAM?....remmeber that the performance also depends from all system not only the GPU....

I have an intel e8400 3.0ghz (with stock heatsink
2x 2gb OCZ 800 ddr2 high performance ram
my mobo is a galaxy 740i SLI with an integrated 9400gt (its turned off) if that helps any
Rewiev if you gtx260 don't have activate some option that control automatically the performance.

also, im pretty new to desktops, I used to do everything on a laptop and the videocard shared it's memory with the system's
im not sure if this is done on desktop PCs as well but if it is, is not enough RAM being shared a problem?

Maybe is the problem, put 2GB (not new) and try play with all full....

Use EVGA presicion, with this too you can adjust the shared memory and do overclok....the program works with any GPU...

Well...there might be a software problem. Make sure you have the Nvidia Performance Control Panel and use that to adjust video card settings manually or just let the control panel do it on its own. It should work fine. Give me specs on your power supply, your OS (name and 32 or 64bit), and tell me if you are using Anti-Aliasing on any settings in your game or in a control panel!!
32bit is whats hurting you a good deal. Your card uses 896mb and the motherboard sometime uses up additionally memory for itself. You probably being limited to 2.5gig. When i had 4gigs of ram on a 32bit os i noticed poor fps on crysis, after going to 64bit got a good jump in fps.
