Another round on me,, the Pilot in the corner,,, give him a double....

I have the 600e,, it' running well,,, installed bios spsdin36,, have DSL on a PC 10/100 card
running,, needs more mem ZERO(00000) bad pic's..

It has a dvd that works,, but I would like to get a combo drive. eBay has a bunch of LG GCC-4241N,,
checked around the forums and it does not have good karma and there are also a bunch of IBM DVD\CDRW
combo IV drives, pn 92P6598 - FRU 08K9868..

Does anyone have any preferences or dislikes??
Can the Ultrabay 2000 Drive be retro-fitted to the 600E rails & frame??
Are there alternative combo drives,,

ALSO: Does anyone if the 600e uses CL2 or CL3 mem.

Remember I'm building a 5yo el cheepo closet queen on a budget..

Thanks
Jim

I just got a Combo drive for my 600X. $89 bux, BuyItNow. Was $99 delivered.
24x CDROM/12xR/8xRW/8xDVD. Caddy and all. Burned one CD disk to capacity with
all Win98 all my utilities and backups, read it fine. Works great. I just
waited till they dropped below $100. This is the one I got...

this one ends May 7th.

The -E(if I remember) uses CL3, PC100 lo-density memory.

Hi,

Almost any standard drive will work. Just unscrew the plastic bits
from the thinkpad drive & screw thm on to the new drive.

I adapted one from an old compaq laptop but had to trim the front
panel to fit.

Best of luck.
