INSTALLING A BLANk hard drive

Hello,Im trying to install a new blank hard drive. I have installed it but it doesn't show in device info. HELP I really think I can do this with the right information at hand.

if you already have the hard drive with your operating system installed in your rig and you are adding this as a secondary storage drive then...

-make sure you have the power cable and data connector (usually sata) connected at both ends.

-you set the hard drive to "slave" in bios. if the device doesn't show up in bios try swapping to a different data port and use different data & power cables to eliminate them as possible issues. an item not appearing usually means it isn't "seeing" the device because either it isn't connected right, doesn't have any power or is fried.

If this isn't the OS drive, you may need to go into disk management and initialize the drive first. Then it will show up in windows.

What mobo do you have where that is ste in BIOS for either SATA or IDE? I only know about IDE settings by jumper or cable select, and I don't know of any master/slave for SATA drives.

I might learn something.
