Can i use a belkin wireless card to access netgear wireless access point

can i use a belkin n1 wireless notebook card on my netgear rangemax wireless access point if so how do i do this i tried standing 10 feet from access point but my ni wireless notebook found nothing

You can but, to be sure of the benefits of the more advanced wireless standards, it's still a good idea to stick with one brand.

As far as the issue you report is concerned -- I'd be surprised if you couldn't even detect the Netgear unit. Some models have wireless turned off by default.
