I just saw one of those cards take a dump about 2 days ago in my shop at work.

Using that logic, if something goes wrong on my Civic, maybe I can trade it even up for a 10' Civic Si, no extra charge.....

Hmm. I don't seem to have problem at all finding a new 4870X2.

Check the ATI site, it's now EOL

My point is valid though, when they run out of stockpiles,
what will they give on MA, or is it the responsibility of the
3rd party or Powercolor, in which case the same question
applies.........

I guess I'm just bitter I have an EOL card lol

If anything, they would send you a card with similar performance. In this case it sounds like the 5870 will be similar to the 4870X2. EOL might not be bad if there is a chance of getting a 5870 that offers similar performance with less power consumption.

I had to RMA my 4870x2 last month. New one is working great, so far. If something happens to it for any reason, I am gonna hold out till the new cards have been out for at least 6 months... just incase I can get a 5 series upgrade. But I honestly hope it runs good for a long time, I love this card, the finest graphical experience I have bought for myself. In total honesty, I want to be blown away by next GPU purchase. I have bought two cards in the last 4 months, and before that I was getting a new graphics/computer setup every 2-3 years. It used to feel awesome to upgrade to a drastically new piece of technology, and while the transfer from 4870 512 to 4870x2 was great for gaming, it didn't totally rock my world like previous upgrade experiences.

Maybe a 6890x2 will be my next goal, provided this card can survive a couple generations (and XFX doesn't lose the ability to repair/replace it).

Yeah, 2.5 ghz clock speed and 2 gb DDR8 would be great right now lol!

Don't get me wrong, my 4870x2 is fantastic. Admittedly it's the first GPU I've had ( I used a laptop previously) and it runs a little hot, but this will soon be fixed when I buy the Arctic Accelero Xtreme. It's a beastly card And probably too good for my Q6660 at 3.2 ghz!! I reckon with overclocking it will nearly match the stock 4890x2.
I definately won't NEED a DX11 card for At least a year or so....

^ unless you want to play upcoming games in DX11.

^And the jury has yet to even be selected when it comes to the real world effect of DX11.

lol, what can we do XD, I try to find another GB HD4870X2 after 5 months I bought my present GB HD4870X2. no luck, now you guys say there are no HD4870X2 at all, anyways, I guess I'll wait till next gen of GPU's, I'm happy with this card. I agree with fruees, the Q6600@3,2Ghz does not cut it, I'll try the Q9550 at least @3.4Ghz.
