Budget $1000

Use: WoW, multi-tasked (dual monitor, 19" + 26" HD) with videos, downloads, web surfing; higher-need games like fallout 3 etc

Parts I do not need: Monitor, Case (Antec 900), speakers, keyboard/mouse, OS

MoBo, CPU, GPU and Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.213960

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817139009

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822136284

I may OC later on, I may buy another video card to match the one in the combo deal to do SLI in the future, I may buy more memory (another 3 x 2GB pack to match the above makes the most sense i think)

Please critique the choices I have. Is my PSU sufficient? Overkill? (If it is overkill, would it still be overkill with 2x the ram and SLI and overclocking?)

With an Antec 900 case and the parts I'm buying, do I need any additional cooling PRE-OC/SLI? If I venture into the world of OC I will most likely go water, but for now, do I need anything other than stock fans?

Are there any other concerns I haven't thought of, such as the components not all fitting in my case?

The PSU is a bit overkill but it's VERY high quality. At the price it's a good choice. It's a better unit than the 750TX or the PC P&C 750W, for instance.

You should be good on the cooling.

I don't think the combo is a very good deal though.

See, that's $780 with a stronger GPU

Or the Nvidia option:

perfect suggestion, I lean toward Nvidia so that XFX card looks great. I tend to lean toward EVGA specifically but XFX seems to be a suitable replacement considering I save $50 and upgrade from GTX 260 to GTX 275.

thank you for the feedback on my PSU, i was thinking roughly the same thing, i wanted to make sure it wasn't so much overkill i'd be doing myself a disservice. i figure with quality like this it'll last long enough that eventually (with OC and SLI) it won't be overkill.

aside that, have i overlooked anything else, such as "video card is too big to fit in case" or anything silly? or other than the new combo deal, order away?

No it's all set. You might want to check the 8-pin cable length on the 850TX... possibly you'll need an extension like this one:

Given my affinity for EVGA, is there a reason to not go with

instead of the XFX you linked?

No, although XFX generally has the better warranty.

oh, that was my other question ... how well do these components do with overclocking and watercooling?

I'm not planning on this right away as that kinda thing is a bit above my experience level for now, but I've been considering water for a while since my environment gets hot

I've also long been curious about the world of OC'ing, and if my components support it, and especially if i'm watercooling anyway, i would like to go there someday.

Sure, it will be fine. Have a look at the recent article on budget MBs...

Since the P6T will overclock better than the P6T SE, you'll be fine there.

You also have 1600Mhz RAM, so you are covered for OC that way too. I see no issues with water cooling given the Antec 900.
