A friend of mine has a Gateway solo 5300 laptop. It will not turn on
when using only the battery as the power supply or through the AC
outlet (with the battery removed).
The power supply cord shows a green light which indicates it is
receiving power from the outlet.
I could find no reset button on the laptop, hoping that if I just
reset it that would work.
I have read some stuff online that says this failure to
receive/recognize power could be due to a bad motherboard. How do I
determine whether the lack of power is due to the motherboard?
Please advise on what my friend should do. Unfortunately it cannot be
taken to a Gateway store because they were closed in April.
Thank you for your help!

Tony,
Thank you for responding but I am unclear as to what you mean. Are you
saying there is a fuse on the motherboard and that is how I will know
whether the problem is with the motherboard?
