Just a quick question for you in regards to the external hard drives i am using in 4 hot-swappable drive bays:

After starting up windows I try to access the HDDs in the drive bays - for some reason on initial access of the drives they take a few seconds to allow me to get in and they also make a few clicking noises, just wondering if this is normal on the initial access? i do not hear any clicking after this when access data on the drives

Let me know if you think the hard drive/s could be going bad.

thanks!

The lag is normal, your system would be shutting them off to save power and needs the little time to turn them on and spin them up for use. Clicking, depends on the model. In some it's normal. I know Seagate has some that were louder than may other drives. You can run a disk check utility, HD Tune has a drive tester, and so should your drive vendor and/or the PC vendor, possibly in the BIOS.
