^those are the memory and MB I am getting.

A questions:
1) Yay or nay on the choices?
2) Compatibility: From what I have gathered thus far, the ddr3 1600 will work, but unless i over clock it to the 1600, the mobo will only read it as 1333... is this correct?
3) If it will work... how hard is overclocking the memory to the correct speed? Will that motherboard handle it? Any good links that show how its done step by step?

It's been a VERY long time since I built a computer, so I am a bit hesitant to dive in too fast haha.

Thanks!

Great mobo and great RAM

however, you are better off going with 4 gigs in dual channel or if you can, find a 2x3gb set and then run those in dual channel

AMD can't yet take full advantage of triple channel so getting an extra stick will probably reduce the effectiveness of dual channel memory

the mobo is great though

for OCing the RAM, just raise the multiplier until it is 200x8 or whatever the ase clock is

in the end it should say

x times y equals 1600 and that is all

Any recommendations that would go well with the board?

Phenom ii x4 965
XFX Radeon HD5870
Asus Crosshair III Formula mobo

^ That is what I am working with right now, so I need some good memory.

Will 4 gigs be enough to handle things like Crysis Warhead on the highest settings and what not?

uh yes

it should be enough but for games like crysis you want a stronger GPU and even stronger CPU

and you have both so you are good to go just grab this RAM and you shuld be all set

very good and one of the lowest latencies available on DDR3

Great! Thank you for the input! At that price I can even afford 2 sets of it if I need to... but I'll test the 4gb out first.

I really appreciate it! Cheers!
