i've had:

voodoo (not an option :( ), TNT, radeon 9200, 6800 Gt, 7900GS

my family has: GMA, GMA, GMA, nvidia 6100 IGP and reused the 9200 I had. Also, i have no clue what the hell our older stuff used, we had 486 and Pentium pros, no clue as to what they used, i can only remember the voodoo we had in the family box that i played doom and eventually mechwarrior on......

And planning on a 58xx when they come out with some nice third party cooling options and prices drop a little from the rush at the start.

i think we should be allowed to vote multiple times if we have CF or SLI or x2 or gx2 or 295 (i think that should give quite a boost to ATI)

MSI Nvidia 7300LE. Again, mostly do word processing all day, but use dual monitors.

Reply to runswindows95

wow my 7300LE just died a few days ago and had to get a 8400 GS to replace it. Didn't want anything more powerful because I am moving to a 4890 soon.

Isn't logical vote 2 times for a SLI or Xfire...if you have a SLI you have a nVidia, or xfire you have an ATI, independet if you have 2 or 3 GPU in 3-SLI or xfire....

And
2. Gainward 6200 Turbocache
both working fine and that too for around 10hrs a day for each one.

I voted ATI 02-06 since I'm still using my P4 with my X850 Pro, but I started putting together my new rig last night with an HD 4890 which should be finished in about 2 weeks (need to wait for one more paycheck to buy my PII X4 955/965, not sure which one yet).

Buy the 955 and overcloked....the only difference with the 965 is 200MHz...and the price is USD $55 more that the 955...

I don't know yet, I've heard that they are the exact same, and I've also heard that they are binned higher. I don't know what to believe on this one, since I'd really like to believe that they are binned higher, but I'm just not sure. We'll see when I get my paycheck. But I bet I will splurge and go with the 965 in a sort of impulse buy kind of thing, just like I did with my HSF. I planned on getting a Xig Dark Knight, but I had some extra cash, and i just couldn't resist the thought of a Thor's Hammer with two Ultra Kaze's in push/pull, so I ended up spending like $80 instead of the planned $40. :)

Trust me, I have. But I've also read other reviews that say that it is binned slightly higher, and that they were able to push it further than their 955's that they had.

Reply to meatwad53186

The 955 hit 7.1Ghz recently.... Dont worry about the 965 being binned to a higher degree since you wont reach those speeds anyways.....

haha, I'm not worried about that kind of overclock, I'm just talking about the 3.7-3.9 Ghz wall that many 955 owners hit on air, since mine will be cooled on air, which many reviewers hit as well. Whereas some of the reviewers and owners were hitting 4.1 or 4.2 on air with the 965.

Reply to meatwad53186

Well I am sure the 955 can push well over 4Ghz on air.... You just hasve to know what you are doing....many peeps that have posted thier failed 955 clocks are just noobs that need some schooling.... I hope you are not reading Newegg reviews....

No, I do not trust Newegg reviews at all. All those are good for are some good laughs. I really liked the reviews that gave the 955 1 egg because they were unaware of CnQ haha. I'll think about it though since anyone can appreciate another $50 in their wallet these days, but like I said, its the last component of my build, and I will get enough money on my paycheck to afford the 965 and live comfortably til my next paycheck so it will be hard not to buy it

wow i've always heard of console wars.. but video card wars? haha. im getting an ATI Radeon 4870, but I am no fanboy. If nVidia made the Radeon 4870, I would still get it (assuming it was just as good)

Reply to skyturnred

Dont get me wrong here, the 965 is a great chip, just wierd pricing, thats all....

If you have the cash then go ahead but remember that there is a lil to no difference at all when comparing both chips.....

As I read the list of cards people are posting here, I am ashamed to state that I have a 3870.

Forget it, my 3870 rocks...( in the shadows, miles back from the eyes of the 4890 and the gtx 260 and up.....)

It's definitely higher binned, but from what I've seen so far, it doesn't make much of a difference.

yeahh university internet is always really fast, but i suspect that they do something to it so you can't stream or game well. It's only good for fast downloading, its not consistent enough for streaming

The oldest is an ATI Radeon x700 pro in an old surfing/e-mail system. A 8800GT and a HD4770.
