I just bought a sharp PC MV12. I want to partion the hard drive and
install XP, but the thing doesn't have a floppy drive for an FDisk. I
have always used FDisk before. Should I just use Partion Magic or is
there some other trick to partitioning using XP?
Will an FDisk even work for an XP computer/ does XP sit on top of DOS?

Boot with the XP CD.
When it gets to the point of the Installation where it asks you where you
want to install, delete the partitions seen, create new one(s) and continue
on. You are done!
(** Anything you did not backup off the machine is GONE - so BACKUP! **)

yeah, partition magic will do the trick.
you may be able to acquire the program with file
sharing programs (P2P)

The XP CD is bootable and has all the tools to partition and
format your computer. Just set the BIOS so the CD is the
first boot device.

Yes, Partition magic does work under XP (you should use one of the two
most recent versions).
If you want to do this yourself using DOS tools, you can still do so
without a floppy. Just make a bootable CD with the tools that you want
on it. The bootable CD should have DOS CD-ROM drivers on it. It will
then probably be seen as two logicial drives, A: or C: which will be the
floppy image on the bootable CD (limited to 1.44 MB, probably), and a
2nd drive containing the "rest" of the 650 MB CD. You MAY want to make
this CD on another machine (one which has a floppy on it).
