Getting sound from my external HDD

I have been using an Acer external HDD. Recently when i connected the hard disk to the same computer on which i generally use it. It is showing the hard disk in the safely remove hardware list but it isnt showing in the my computer. So i am unable to access my files.

Please tell me what to do.

Go to "disk management". If it shows up properly there (not raw), then assign it a new drive letter (right click on it and "assign drive letter"). Then see if it shows up properly in windows.

I've seen instances where several removable drives end up mapping to the same drive letter and it must somehow confuse windows.
