Userstartup cheat doesn't work anymore

Ever since my reformat and reinstall, I have had trouble with my userstartup
cheat file. I know that part of it works because it starts with the
censorgrid 0 thing and that works. But for some reason, none of my aliases
work anymore. I was spoiled to being able to simply type m or m- for
moveobjects on and off, s and s- for the snapobjects to grid thing, and just
an r or r- to rotate the furniture 45 degrees. Now I must type all the
cheats out again and it's a pain.

Any ideas why it has decided not to work for me anymore?

Did you put it in the right folder?
Are you using the one that came with the game or a created one?

No idea, didn't even realize you could have aliases... but you know,
you can turn 45 degrees on permanently, with no ill effects. Just use
, and . to rotate in 45's.

And one more thing... instead of writing all that write "Mo" and hit
tab, and it will spell out the rest of the word.

I put it in the folder it was in before. My Documents/EA Games/Sims
2/Config. I created it. I think I created the other one, too, though.

So are you saying that with university, it needs to go somewhere else? Do
you have university or are you just guessing?

Okay was just questioning because of your post in binaries that seemed so
unlike you.
I wonder why maxis made the default paths different in university.
And the blur thing would be in a different place anyway, wouldn't it? As in
a different cheat file, like the global cheat vs user cheat.
I know with my basic sims2 I've got 2 config folders. One in
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Config
and one in \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config.
The global cheat file is in the programs one and the usercheat is in the
documents one.

That's where I had it before and it worked fine up until I had to do that
reformat because Windows got corrupted. Remember when I cut and pasted the
contents of it in a post in this group a month or two ago? I went and
retrieved that post from Google and copied it back into the new userstartup
cheat but now it doesn't work. But the censorgrid part of it does work.
Can't figure that out....

This one is not going to work if University is installed. When you
open the cheat console it will give an error in the userstartup.cheat
file and nothing listed after aging off will work.

No, it goes the same place, however not all the cheats will work with
university if you put them in the userstartup.cheat file. Aging off is
one of the cheats that wont work.

To be sure, it isn't in mine.

That doesn't help. If the aging off cheat is in the userstartup file
it will not work and it will prevent other cheats listed after it from
working as the cheat console will give an error.

Here is what I have in my userstartup.cheat file:
intprop censorgridsize 0
alias d "boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled false"
alias dd "boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled true"
alias b "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true"
alias bb "boolprop testingcheatsenabled false"

This work without a problem, but if you put aging off in it like this:
intprop censorgridsize 0
aging off
alias d "boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled false"
alias dd "boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled true"
alias b "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true"
alias bb "boolprop testingcheatsenabled false"

the cheat console say: UserStartup.cheat error:unknown command in
command 'aging off' and the other commands listed after it won't work.
It doesn't matter where in the userstartup file you put it, it won't
work.

This is not a bug, University do not recognize aging off as a cheat,
it won't work in University. It will work in the neighbourhoods if you
type it in but it won't work in the university "mini-game" and not in
the Userstartup.cheat file either.

I had similar problems setting up a new user startup cheat after I had
installed Uni (forgot to back old one up before deleting Sims 2 folder). It
took me ages to figure out why I was having problems (and why they got worse
when I added a 'new' cheat at the top of the list). It seems some cheats
just don't user startup under Uni, and cause real problems if you try. You
can, however, make new alias' for the cheats that don't load, and use them
in the game. So it must just be something to do with how the userstartup
cheat file is loaded under Uni (or interacts with the Uni additions) that
makes everything go stupid.

Well, the aliases that I was using were for the cheats to increase the
number of sims at a party, moveobjects on and off, rotate objects,
snapobjectstogrid, motherlode and locktiles on and off. The userstartup
cheat file I had worked fine with University before I reformated and
reinstalled everything. Now the only part of it that works is the
censorgrid part.

I doubt it. You can speel it Aging Off, aging Off,Aging off or AGING
OFF and it still doesn't work. The censorgrid cheat works no matter
how you spell it, it's only the Aging thing that doesn't work,
everything else is fine.

Have you tried giving the Aging off thing an alias after you installed
Uni? Because I have and the cheat console still say there is an
unrecognised command in aging off. There could of course be a
difference between the US version and the European version but I
rather doubt it. Maybe I should ask Maxis support why I can't put it
in the userstartup.cheat file? But they'll probably tell me I need to
update my video card driver:)

Well, I asked EA support if they know why mine isn't working. Perhaps
I'll get an answer:)
