Wow,where do you live, I have never seen a working PC case that has rusted, not in all the years I have been building and repairing them ever, and we are talking about systems over ten years old in some cases, all I can think is you live along the coast in a salt belt (Salt Spray in the air) like Durban South Africa as this would cause rust over tine!
My advice would be to remove any moisture from the air in the rooms where the computers are kept with a De-humidifier and ensure that windows are kept closed when it is running (the De-humidifier). Also how old are the cases, because this will take a long time to happen and poor quality cases getting very old could be part of the problem as well!

Well I live 1 mile from the Gulf of Mexico (salt) and my climate is very hot and humid (35c right now and its fall, 80% humidity) and I have never, EVER had any rust on any of my cases.

I live up in central Texas and I have seen a few but they were crap to begin with.
I've seen customer cases come in full of bull ants, wasps and roaches, but dont recall seeing any with rust unless they were the oldschool 90's tan cases.
i think everybody's saying you don't need to worry about it - if it's a half-decent quality case it's not going to rust. if you have rusty cases then it's time to stop buying crap just because it's cheap.
Does any thing else rust in your residence? Is there any thing that irritates your breathing because there could be corrosive gases coming from the canal. You might be down stream from a power plant or factory.
No i don't have that problem here...The humidity here ~ 38% to 40%.
Use case base on Aluminum and plastics for accessories. These materials are resistant to rust. Get case from Antec, Thermaltake, Li Lian..etc.
You must be using cheap cases made of iron base metal sheet that is susceptible to oxidation.
Options to reduce humidity in your room:
If available use a Dehumidifier in your computer room. That will reduce the water content of the air in your room. You have to make sure you have little leak in your doors and windows or it will defeat the purpose of dehumidifier. This is a cheaper solution than running an AC in your computer room.
Think about it dude, you cant fix a case thats rusted unless you sand it down to bare metal and paint it. Its no different than a car. How do you prevent it? Well dont buy cases made of iron? I dont know, were saying its unusual and either you bought total crap or you have chinese drywall in your home emitting gasses that are causing rusting, which would also cause other things in your home to rust including your brain.
