The x2 was faster than the 280 in some games, but horrible in others. Its older, and driver support cant be kept forever, and the 280 and the 4890 are about equal, and the new drivers gives the 4890 a decent push as well, plus you have a higher DX11 path for the DX11 games, and just plain ol DX10.1.
Physx isnt supported very well on the x2, and doesnt give great perf, if these other features help break the tie

4890! There both perform close while the 4890 is a single card, less power, less heat, less noise and no scaling issues.

Can you even find a new 9800x2 anymore? If so what is the price? If you can get it substantially cheaper it might be worth it. I like the 4890, but don't like its price point right now. You can get better value in the 4850 and 4870 cards.

If your going with the 4890 it isn't that much more for the Vapor-X model. $199 at newegg and that one is quieter and runs far cooler.

I didn't get there last night and the card went off sale and back to 229.99. I talked down my friend to 100 bucks so i'm just going to pickup the GX2. :)
