50 C Idle?!!?

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 955 with a Cooler Master TX3 in an Enermax Chakra with a 92 mm exhaust and 120 mm intake with the stock fan as intake, yet Speedfan says that my CPU is idling at 50 degrees celsius at 27 degrees ambient temperature. I overclocked the CPU to 3.5, but even at the stock 3.2 the CPU was idling at ~49 C. What am I doing wrong?

you need fix : replace new thermal paste , sure secure properly, also disabled Smart fan CPU in bios .
if still HOT , get big huge CPU cooler like Noctua NHD-14 :D 
September 13, 2011 10:13:11 AM could also open ur clean out the computer and take away all of those dust could use a can of compress air to clear out the dust on heatsinks.......and also, check all your fans if there working properly.... ;)

Also, I have that some CPU, and I keep my house AC @ 70 degree F, I use the stock heatsink (which is actually pretty darn good) and I idle @ about 32 degree C.

Well I just checked and there are no dust bunnies to be removed and all fans are working. I am not going to spend $70 on a cooler either :p . So I narrowed my choices on a new heatsink to two choices: hyper 212+ or noctua u12p se2. Which one should I go with?

I would spend 70 on a cooler before I have to pay 300+ dollars twice for a CPU.

I idle around 42 C or so in a 77 degree room.

Use "Core Temp" for accurate temps. Speedfan can be inaccurate. 35C idle and 55C under max load would be more typical.

^+1 Use a second or third temp monitoring program to confirm your temps.
