Would this GPU work in my PC?

I currently have an ATI Radeon x300 GPU. I have an Asus P5GD1-FM motherboard and my power supply is good enough. My current GPU uses the PCI-E port on my motherboard. Would a XFX GeForce 8600 GT fit into this port ok i think it will but i just need to double check before i buy it.
