Thinking of changing CPU

Can I change CPU in my Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2H motherboard? My current is AMD Athlon Dual Core 4850e and I'm thinking of buying Athlon II x2 260. Thanks for reading

You can look at the spec's for that MB and see what it supports for processors , if your is listed then go ahead.

Your motherboard has an AM2+ socket, the Athlon II x2 260 has an AM3 socket. It should work, but I doubt this upgrade is worth it.

-AM3 processors work on AM2+ motherboards due to the presence of both the DDR2 and DDR3 memory controllers on the processor

-AM2+ processors do not work on AM3 motherboards due to the processor's lack of a DDR3 memory controller

But my motherboard has ddr2 memory and this processor ddr3. Shouldn't it work well for gaming?

It would work, but I think you should get something much better like the phenom 955.
