Hello, I have a wired connection to a netgear router and this morning my internet went down.
My housemates also have wired/wireless connections to the router and they can use the internet.
I have tried using their wires to connect and they can connect using my e-net wires.
Additionally the computer doesn't find the netgear router and says "hardware not connected".

 

I have gigabyte p35-ds3r mobo and am connecting to its' on board E-net slot.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

 

Vista Business 64.

nope here's my IPCONFIG

 

also, a USB wireless device lets me connect the internet.
I think there's an issue with the hardware but I haven't done/changed anything.

Is network indicator light on when cable is plugged in?

If no - look at re-install of LAN drivers

no to the first question
trying your suggestion

I will re install the drivers but it's odd that it suddenly stopped working.
So I am not sure if it will work.

update:

the new drivers still wont let me connect to the router.
still suspicious there's a hardware issue, anyone know of a way I can test this?
as I said, I can connect to the router with a USB-Wireless adapter
but not my ethernet port for my mobo.

What do the settings look like in device manager for network ports?

Must say, is looking a bit like dead lan port

are you getting activity lights on your LAN port when the cable is plugged in? Do you have another cable to use to see if your cable is bad?
