Hi!, I have a 19" monitor with a radeon hd 4550, I know that this card doesn´t work for games but i want to upgrade the card, i was planning to get the radeon hd 4870 1gb and I know that this card would be too much for may monitor, but my question is.. if i play with this card i gonna to loose performance because the monitor or just simple the card doesn´t gonna reach his limits?... example:

Supose that in one system (where all the componentes doesn´t matter now) with a 24" monitor and the radeon hd 4870 1 gb playing for example assassins creed with a high settings, the system perform 60 fps.

In the other hand i have the exact system but the difference its the monitor its a 19" and playing the same game at the same settings, it would be perform less than the 60 fps just because the monitor its not using the power of the graphic card?

I hope you can understand me, thanks!

you wouldnt lose any performance although the HD4870 is overkill for your monitor.if you were to compare a 4850 and a 4870 at 1280x1024 resolution you wouldnt see any difference, its when you start gaming on 22 inch screens or 24 inch screens where youll see framerates drop because it puts more stress on your card
