I just recently built a new system and used the old hard drive and disc drive, and was getting CRC errors. I couldnt figure out what was causing this, so i took it to a tech in town. they replaced my disc drive and hdd, said it was fixed. Now when i try to install a game from a disc i get a CRC error again. Says the file does not match or something like that. Now i can install and run games that i download, just not from a disc. Any suggestions? my build is on here on my most recent post about CRC errors as well.

Does the disc work in another computer? Just to rule out the possibility of scratched/bad disc.

If the disc does work then have a look at your RAM. Use memtest86+ to scan your RAM for errors.

I also tried copying from the disc to the hard drive and still recieved crc errors

Does the disc work in another computer? Just to rule out the possibility of scratched/bad disc.

If the disc does work then have a look at your RAM. Use memtest86+ to scan your RAM for errors.

the computer tech i took it to said he let it run over night? if it was my RAM wouldnt i not be able to play games i downloaded?

and if i just ignore all the errors it still installs the game? spore worked fine, HAWX lets me get about 2 min into the game then crashes?

Check the cables. You could have a damaged SATA or IDE cable so try them on another system or swap them with cables that you know work.

Did you (or your tech) remove the old drivers and install the new ones for your 'disc' drive?

brand new hard drive and disc drive, so shouldnt have been any old drives i would have thought? now there are 2 ways to hook up the disc drive, one is master/slave or disc select i think the other is? would this matter?
